Bluebonnet Books operates as a modernized cross between traditional and hybrid publishing. Authors pay nothing for publishing or distribution of their books, but the publisher recoups costs for editing and formatting (and, if not provided, cover commission) from the initial royalties.
All rights, however, remain completely with the author.
Distribution (as of 2026) is handled through print-on-demand services, with the ISBNs purchased and registered to the Bluebonnet Books imprint. Royalty rates are standardized based on a tier threshold system (35, 45, and 55 percent of profits from sales of their books, after costs are recouped) that encourages authors to engage in self-promotion and partner in marketing efforts.
Bluebonnet Books operates on a submission-based process only.
