A Somber Birthday for Bluebonnet Books

It's been a month and two days since my mom passed. She passed on the one year anniversary of Bluebonnet Books Publishing's inception, when I decided to make a real go at starting a business, largely in part to publish her book to make her lifelong dream come true.

I never wondered if she was proud of me. I always knew it. But I still find myself wanting to call her to tell her about the little things that excite me or a dedication by a certain author that made me cry.

Despite not being able to share these things with her anymore, I take comfort in the fact that I can share with my authors, readers, and community. Bluebonnet Books has a busy year of building ahead in 2026, and I want to be clear about one thing: the people around us are EVERYTHING. Whether family, community, friends, strangers... the connection between humankind is transcendent through our capacity for love.
